Siim Tanel Tour Guide

Siim Tanel has studied law - he likes to say that the air we breathe is not only a mix of gases but it is also blessed by the constitution-particles in it. He finds it inevitable and beautiful.

If he is not doing tours, Siim can be found reading, writing or cycling. He plays the accordion in a klezmer-band (Google it, it is awesome) and likes to hike. He plans on taking the Trans-Siberian railway one day - we have yet to tell him that being in an old Soviet train for days is not as romantic as it sounds.

Before becoming a tour guide Siim has worked in catering which is one of those jobs that feeds you but doesn’t always feed your soul. He has also worked in the Tallinn Town Hall and being in a 600-year-old building makes you perceive time differently (we often find him staring into the abyss). He also proudly talks about his socio-political coffee-club with his grandmother and we are anxiously waiting for an invite.

On Siim Tanel’s tours you can expect to be taken on a historical path through time and space - he will put things into a greater context and can easily connect a street in Tallinn in Medieval times to a modern house in Madrid with one stop. He is a socially critical person with an eye for architecture on the side.

"Enlighting tour with Siim"

Group of four adults: we had a very interesting tour with Siim, covering history and general life in Estonia. He has a great sense of humour and is open to discuss and answer questions of all nature. Respectful and kind, we recommend to all.

"What Fun!"

We had a wonderful tour with Siim! He did a great job and really brought Tallinn alive...and he had a wonderful sense of humor! We walked up through the old city and then we rode bikes to the summer palaces and park. It was perfect for the time we had with the cruise ship. They provided an attachment bike for our younger one...it was terrific.

"Super good tour"

We took this tour in place of our included tour with Viking. Viking tours are usually very good, but we thought this would be really fun. It was! The tour was great. We had a young man who knew a lot about the history and culture of Tallinn. The walking tour covered old town and the bike ride got us through some different parts of the city and then out to the palace and park areas. Really nice and very enjoyable. Highly recommend it.

"Excellent Tour by Siim "

Siim was eloquent, humorous and captivating....wealth of a time. I had a whale of time.Kudos to him !

"A spooky history lesson in Tallinn"

The tour was great, informative, interesting, and a perfect way to hear about all the spooky, gruesome and fascinating legends of Tallinn and it’s turbulent history. Our guide was fantastic, really fun and made for a very entertaining night, with excellent ‘home-grown’ knowledge of the area. Would Highly recommend.

"Ghost tour Tallinn"

After a similar tour in Edinburgh we had high hopes for this one in Tallinn. The free walking tour was also a hard act to follow but unfortunately we were very disappointed. We did not find the content very stimulating and its delivery was lacking. We were expecting a 2 hour tour so thought the 1 hour 10 minute one we actually had for 15 euros each was expensive. Sorry, but wouldn't recommend.
