Marii doesn’t speak numerous languages. And thinks she has no idea how to be likable and considers herself the clumsiest person in the world. However, she can make sure that if you are lost, need a place to stay or are starving, she’s able to use her arms, legs, fingers and if necessary also her toes to help you out. If this is not enough, She will just walk with you to the place you want to go.

Marii has lived in Tallinn only for two years therefore she can understand how people do not find very simple places and ask the same weird questions like she did some years ago. Thanks to the fact that she has lived most of her life in a small village, she knows how to milk a cow and thanks to the fact she studies philosophy gives her different perspectives to solve problems.

If she is not walking around Old Town and helping out tourists, you will probably find her either watching (or doing) some sports (oh she absolutely loves basketball), reading some way too confusing books (it is just called philosophy) or travelling around Estonia.

Jaan is the youngest “tent girl” of them all this year. Don’t let his height and unusual hair frighten you, as he is frendlier than a bargaining egyptian trying to sell a shawl. You can spot him a mile away, as he’s nearly 2 metres tall and regularly has bright red hair. He has the ambition of having his name written in history books (as someone famous, not as the publisher).

He is still in high school, with one more year to go, and thinks life couldn’t be better! This is the first summer in 7 years he’s actually spent in Estonia, and he wanted to take the most of it. So what job guarantees a fun time and lets you talk a lot? The tent!

Quote: “If you want info, come to the tent! If you want a better map, come to the tent! If you don’t want anything, then still come to the tent. Have a chat, make some aquaintances and find some place to go for the night.”

Jaan’s notorious skills include an Irish accent, a backup lighter, 3 extra maps and food finding skill +5. Jaan’s previous occupations include wearing a pizza slice costume.

Meet Piret, the most sarcastic girl in Tallinn, maybe even whole Estonia. Piret has been living in our wonderful city for all her life, but sometimes she visits her most favourite place Tartu, which she thinks is the perfect place to relax and reload.

It’s her first year in the tent and so far so good. She works there as the tentgirl and her main responsibility is to help all the lovely tourists who want to get to know a whole new Tallinn. She can answer all your questions and she definitely will find the perfect place for everyone, no matter if you just want to get a coffee or party all night long.

She’s in high school and about to graduate cum laude. After high school she plans to go to Tartu University. Piret loves volleyball and she has won many medals for her achievements. She is best known for her most special quality – the lamest jokes ever heard (if you ask nicely, you may hear one or two). On her spare time she loves to listen to music, mostly alternative rock, hang out with her super awesome friends and draw everything she sees. Piret’s biggest dreams include visiting as many countries as she possibly can and marry David Hasselhoff.

Her friends will say, that she is one of the most friendliest, energetic and optimistic people they have ever met, all you have to do is come by the tent to see if that’s true. And to all the people there who were wondering how to pronounce her name – it’s Piret, like pirate.

Änni Koppel is a special girl. Well, at least that’s what her mother keeps telling her every single day. Actually she is as extraordinary as her name, you know there are only 79 people named Änni in the world (and Facebook doesn’t lie!). Although this is Änni’s first year being a tentgirl you can ask her anything, and I mean a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g about Tallinn and she will help you out! She has lived here for over 14 years, so she definitely knows her stuff. As a matter of fact she was born on the biggest island of Estonia – Saaremaa. And this little detail will haunt her till the end of her life, because she can’t say the letter “õ” properly. Not that it matters for foreigners that make no difference between õ, ä, ö or ü.

As one of the youngest people in the Tent, she is still in highschool and hopefully will graduate next year. One day she would like to learn something connected to media or psychology. In the future she will be married to a extremely-handsome-superrich-sophisticated male model and run her own fashion magazine, with a really lame name like Änni or something

In her free time she likes to work out, read books, cook, travel, go second hand shopping or just hang around with her friends. She loves to meet new people, laugh and make really lame jokes and she is probably one of the most cheerful people you’ll ever meet. Also she has a special ability! If there is a possibility to spill something on you there is a 99.9% chance she will do it. Nevertheless, she loves her job and is always ready to help you out!

She likes to sleep a lot (especially in the mornings), so when you arrive early she might still be a little bit sleepy, but still friendly and smiling.

She doesn’t like to make plans, because they have the possibility to fail, so no-one ever knows what she might do.

She always appreciates bad humour (really bad always ends up really good) and you never know what color her hair might be.

Ann is still in high school. She studies in a class focused on humanitarian subjects and she really likes history and social science. Her future goal is to get into the most prestigious university possible – she hasn’t quite figured out what field to major in exactly.

She has never actually lived in Tallinn, therefore she finds it a very interesting town and really has trouble finding her way around in it. She also thinks it is unfortunate how locals insist that Tallinn should be called a city.

She thought that being a guide would be a fun summer job – before that she used to illustrate different things like childrens books or design posters for events or just pretend to be an idiot for a job. Fun was had. But then she figured she should do something more worthwhile – like becoming a guide.

When she runs out of facts or ghost stories during the tour, she will probably quote Family Guy or tell you stories of how she sleepwalks. Yep, she is very random.

Deniss is crazy about international workcamps and projects. He has taken part in 5 international projects in different countries of Europe and „he is not going to stop” (please read the previous phrase with a dramatic voice – it’s important!).

In winter you will probably find Deniss skiing somewhere in the forest or making a snowman in front of the biggest mall of the city. Rest of his activities during the schoolyear (in addition to eating and sleeping) include studying at the Estonian Maritime Academy, teaching English and German to kids, watching a lot of movies, swimming, playing paintball, cliff climbing and jumping out of airplanes (last two things happen only in his dreams – he has never jumped off a plane, climbed a cliff once, but he’s convinced that he’ll be doing those things pretty often in the future, so please do not destroy his dream, ok? )

I have wanted to be a bike tour guide for as long as I can remember. So now, at the age of 24, I have pretty much achieved 50% of all my goals in life (the other 50% being the unquenchable thirst to punch a walrus in the face) and could, and probably will, retire soon to a comfortable life in the Bahamas, where I will, as a prophet of the cruel master of time, Kronos, undoubtedly be worshipped by a fanatic army of zealot followers.

Due to the deficiencies in the Estonian retirement laws however, I am more likely to stick around for a bit longer and pursue other, more trivial goals. These include, but are not limited to, mastering the powers of the Universe, reinventing the wheel as well as discovering the cure for cancer. Also, I have saved the world at least on one occasion. I study cultural anthropology, but am not brilliant at it. I draw, but often fail, to hit the canvas. I felt like writing a novel once, but that feeling went away. I have played in a band, but our particular brand of ‘extreme maritime black metal’ was not well received.

On the downside I must admit that my orientation skills are pitiful at best and my ability to get lost even on my home turf is remarkable – one time I managed to locate a sub-tropical patch of dense jungle in the middle of Tallinn City that was not supposed to be there (the gorillas agreed). Therefore, my leadership is always to be respected, but questioned. On the upside, I possess in-depth knowledge of Einstein’s theory of general relativity. That knowledge may or may not come in handy on the tours.

It must be said that my dedication to the job is outstanding. For instance, as I’m writing this very text, I am neglecting my essay on interpretative archaeology, which was due an hour ago. I am generally very helpful and go the extra mile to help visitors find their way around in Tallinn (and particularly the pubs).

P.S. No one has died on any of my tours yet. Please attend (need money for partying).
