"Beautiful park but not much information from the guide"

The trip starts at the center of the old town where our quiet guide met us, introduced herself and ushered us to the 8 person van, where the 7 of us squeezed in. The guide immediately inserted a cd of Estonian music. If it wasn't for a very talkative fellow traveler, I'm not sure she would have spoken through the entire drive. The first stop was a waterfall with port-a-potties. It's not a very big waterfall but it has unusual color which the guide explained briefly came from the colors of the peat moss. Next was the bog where the guide ushered us to the trail, told us to beware of the "bad" mermaids in the bog, read the board at the beginning of the hike on how the bog was formed, showed us a couple of plants and sent us on our way. She drove the van to the end of the trail, so there is no guide during the bog part of the hike (a bit more than a mile). Note that while the beginning of the hike is a full boardwalk, the second part of the hike is a two plank, slippery walk, so wear good shoes. There's a tower you can climb up half way in to get broader views of the bog. The bog is beautiful with many different colors of peat moss and mushrooms and plants. The guide met us at the end of the bog trail and then took us to lunch. While she answered questions at lunch, she didn't really contribute any information without someone asking questions. Lunch was very good in an interesting lodge at the fishing village. We walked to the beach where the guide gave a brief history of the fishing village, got on a giant swing where the guide briefly discussed summer festival and then headed to the manor house. Here the guide gave us a brief history of the manor house and Estonian history in five minutes and then we were on our own for about 45 minutes. We met back with the guide and drove back. The guide did not speak to the group the entire hour back. I've since been told that Estonians are "introverts", and the guide seemed like a "nice person" if a bit shy (unusual for a guide), but it was the strangest "guided" tour I've ever experienced (I had another tour the next day which was much more similar to what I expected--with the guide actually giving history, statistics about the city, etc. unprompted, adding great value to the tour). I'm not sure if this is the usual way these tours go, but I was disappointed not to learn more about the bog, estonia, etc. I gave this level of detail about the experience because I would have found it helpful to know these details BEFORE I selected this tour.

This was an excellent day getting out of the city and seeing a national park, learning about some of the history of Estonia, but also about some of the flora and fauna that can be found in the park. It was a really relaxed day. Rhea was an amazing host and it was a full day without feeling like it was exhausting. She is clearly a knowledgeable and proud Estonian. Highly recommend it

"A tour that is worth it"

They picked us up in the city center and took us to the essential places in the park (the Jägala waterfall, the walk through the bog, the coast, the forest and even to a manor house) and told us a lot of things about the nature and customs of Estonia that would have taken us centuries to discover. The trip was really interesting not only because of the landscape but because of everything we could discover about it with the help of the guides. Rhea and Marc were fantastic and made us spend a great day visiting the park. With Marc we could even speak in Spanish and in Catalan. The place where we had lunch was one of the best places we have eaten. Bring a winter coat, swimsuit and an umbrella. You will be fine.

"Alice in Wonderland"

We were very pleased with our tour which took us to various unique stops we would have never caught on our own. Our guide, Kullo, was knowledgeable and friendly. We really enjoyed tours of the old Soviet plane, the tunnels and the stop at the old pilot’s graveyard. In all, the trip was very good to include a local meal at a small restaurant that was pleasing to our whole group.

The waterfall, the bog boardwalk, lunch and forest walk were all nice. A good day out to see the Estonian countryside and national park and get away from the city. Luckily we dodged the heavy rain. An enjoyable day trip which I would recommend to others. Remember to take swimming attire if you want to try the designated swimming spot in the bog (something I didn't know about beforehand).

My husband and I joined the Narva & Eastern Bloc day tour recently. We had considered making our own way to Narva by train but were so glad we joined this tour! It was a long day but our guide (and driver) Kullo was excellent, sharing his insights on the historical, political and social context of the different places we visited. Highlights for us included visiting Sillamae (the "secret" town that wasn't on the map during Soviet times) and also looking around Narva (just across the river from Ivanograd in Russia) with a rich history ranging from medieval castles to the huge Kreenholm mill complex that employed 10000 workers in its heyday! Watching people crossing the bridge in Narva which marks the Russia /Estonia border on foot pulling their luggage was a poignant reminder of the complex history of this region.

"Perfect for nature lovers and solo travelers."

The tour takes you to wonderful natural landscapes, with the possibility of a bit of wild swimming in the bog on summer days, and fishing villages and historical manors. Overall the tour was just a perfect mix of nature and Estonian culture and history, the bus rides in between are not too long. Our guide was welcoming, knowledgeable and fun. Totally recommend!

I had a wonderful day exploring Lahemaa National Park. Our guide, George (Gyuri), was a fellow Hungarian, so naturally I may be a little biased in his favour — but even setting that aside, he genuinely deserves the praise. He was friendly, helpful and very well prepared, with impressive knowledge covering Estonian nature, history, culture and contemporary life. I particularly appreciated his interactive style: he welcomed questions, involved the group in the conversation and adapted the pace and programme to our interests instead of simply following a fixed script. The Viru Bog was the highlight for me, with its unique landscape and beautiful views. Jägala Waterfall, Sagadi Manor and the northern coastline made the day varied and gave us a great introduction to Estonia beyond Tallinn. The small-group atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable throughout. I would definitely recommend this tour — and George in particular!

Our family of eight adults took a 3-hour walking tour with Simon. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would also say he spoke very quickly, so was difficult to understand at times. He also started talking as soon as he reached a site instead of waiting for the group. Overall, it was a fine tour.

A perfect choice for anyone who likes to take a look outside of Tallinn. Set out from Tallinn on a day trip to Paldiski, a former Soviet naval base known for its spectacular coastal limestone cliffs. A local guide with show you around this once closed military town, providing insight into its fascinating history. Along the way you'll visit an old prison quarry and Estonia's third largest waterfall, as well the stunning Keila-Joa Manor—known for it's Neo Gothic style of architecture. You'll even have an opportunity to explore the cockpit of a plane once belong to Soviet military. Great extra is the old Antonov freight plane, modified from a real warbird. The lunch in Paldiski is a taste of local food and desserts.

We had a great daytrip with Rhea at Laheema Park with many interesting explanations. The organization was good, lunch was vers nice (outdoors on the shade). Rhea took good care of us and was joyful and dynamique! Thank you!

"Captivating, unique tour to Narva"

Kullo took us on an incredibly interesting tour across Estonia to Narva. We stopped at a very well-preserved castle along the way (from the 1400s, I believe) as well as Sillamae, a town with a fascinating history (including resort town, Soviet occupied uranium enrichment facility, Nazi occupied town, etc.) Narva was so interesting, and we spent an hour walking along the river separating Estonia and Russia, learning about the castles there as well as the past and current relationship between the two countries. I highly recommend this tour. Kullo is passionate about the history and shares it in a captivating manner. Many people aren't drawn to touring Narva, because it is not a typical European big city or quaint European town. But learning about the Soviet history, Estonia's recent independence, and all the country has endured was so eye-opening, and we really enjoyed seeing the beautiful Estonian countryside on the way. Wonderful, unique tour!

"Lovely nature with a great guide"

Nature spots we visited were peacefully beautufull. The museums were high quality. Food during the lunch break was very good. Two sections of going with the car were a bit long, but I could take a nap, so, no problem. Guide was friendly, knows a lot of stories. Guide did not hurry us (not even once) and we were still on time according to the schedule (very well planned!).

I created a long list of options for our 5 hour custom tour and our guide figured out a way to cover all of it! It was great to have a van to get around the city and see sights outside of old town. Our guide was born in Tallinn so that was special to have a local with interesting family stories going back to his great grandparents. Tip - bring snacks and drinks; build in time for a short break; also good if guide can provide water in the car.

Excellent full-day tour of the National Park featuring a walk through the bog lands which was great, a tour of an old manor, stop for lunch at a traditional restaurant in a fishing village and a visit to some waterfalls. Local guide was really good telling some stories about the area based on her own experience growing up there.

We really enjoyed this excursion outside the city and getting to feel the natural side of Estonia. The walks were easy, relaxing, and scenic. The lunch spot was also great food. I would definitely recommend this tour if you have a second or third day in Tallinn to fill!

If you're spending more than a day in Tallinn, this tour is really a must. I first visited Estonia in 2019 and did this tour then, and when I knew I'd be returning to this beautiful part of the world I immediately signed up again. Our guide this time, Johanna, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and she's the perfect person to guide you through the park because she grew up there! Like last time, the small group was such a lovely bunch of people from all over the world, and it was equally a pleasure to get to know all of them, too. A lot has changed in 7 years, but the magnificence of this park and this tour is not one of them. I look forward to doing it again the next time I'm back!

The tour was great, I highly recommend it. The communication with the team was easy-going, everything worked fine when I had to reschedule the trip because of not enough bookings for the day. Our guide picked us up on time and knew a lot about the different spots and history of Estonia. Good to know: in Viru bog, it might be necessary to watch your steps and wait a bit, when there are a lot of people, because the path is narrow from the middle on.

The tour was on the first day of a slight thawing of the ice and snow - actually edged above zero degrees. There were 7 of us, from different countries and we bonded quickly! The frozen waterfall was almost ethereal and the snowy bog walk a fun challenge and so interesting to learn about the importance of the bogs and lakes. The high point for us was the forest walk (and impromptu village swing. The forest was again so interesting and peaceful and ended with a walk on a snow covered beach and onto the sea with waves frozen in time. Very surreal. Throughout the guide, Kullo, was simply awesome. He was so passionate about his country and its nature and provided an insight you would not get from a book. I think we were lucky to have such a lovely group of people but anyone visiting Tallinn should take this tour.

We made stops at the Jagala waterfall, did a walk at Altja Maratha along the shoreline & in the forest, had lunch at Altja Korts, visited the manor house Sagadi Mõisa, & finally did a walk through Viru Bog. Along the way Kullo provided us with information about the places that included both the geology and geography as well as. The social history. Kullo was knowledgeable and friendly. We had a very interesting day with Kullo. He showed us some beautiful Estonian landscapes (Waterfall, beach, cliffs,...) and told us about the Estonian history. At the beginning of the tour we've watched some fortifications and some very nice places near Tallinn. After a tipical Estonian lunch we went to Rummu Quarry, where we could take a bath. At the end, Kullo brought us to an old military plane, where we could go in. During the tour we had the possibility to ask questions about Estonia. It was a really nice experience! Thank you!

The tour was a convenient way to see several different places outside of Tallinn that weren’t easy or were impossible to get to by public transport, especially if you’re tight on time and only spending a few days in Estonia. It was great having a knowledgeable local guide driving us around and explaining the history, culture, customs and nature of the area as we went along. Stopping for lunch at the cute wooden thatched restaurant in the fishing villlage was fun. The highlight was the walk along the boardwalk in the peat moss bog. Our guide Astra was lovely, accommodating and happy to answer all kinds of questions about the various things we saw. It’s definitely a tour worth doing.

I'm so glad I was able to do this tour and see more of Estonia than Tallinn! The bog was a cool experience, seeing wild blueberries, cranberries, and the beautiful views. Lunch at the centuries old restaurant was delicious and filling. Unfortunately the Sagadi Mansion house was closed, but we still were able to walk around the property and enjoy the gardens. "Excellent and must do tour when you want to see the other side of Estonia "

I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the other side of Estonia. It takes you to the Russian side of Estonia, where Russian is the main language and hardly speak Estonian or English. In Narva it feels like you're in a totally different country, you're like in little Russia. Also if you wants to experience how life in Russia could be without want to visit that country at all (which is ofcourse impossible nowadays). Also native Estonians hardly visit that region or even not at all. A lot of history story telling and sightseeing on this tour. I actually came to see the bridge that connects Russia and read a lot about Narva, but the whole tour, it sightseeings and region in the end is worth it. Even more then 5 stars, ofcourse thanks to the excellent tourguide Johanna ;) The tour don't go often and after 5 weeks with enough people the tour finally continues I have heard from the guide That's awesome, I came just on the right time ;) Actually people have to do this tour in my opinion, because to really understand Estonia's past, present and future. There is more then Tallinn ;)

When in Estonia for a couple of days this is one of the tours you have to do. Simply there is more than only Tallinn. It gives you the opportunity to explore also the nature of Estonia (where it stands for) and different area's/places to visit. The hike was definitely one of the highlights of the tour. I have never used Traveller Tours before, but now that I have, I would recommend them. Kullo, who was our guide was the driver and guide. He did a fantastic job of showing us the scenery, talking about the history, culture, and answering all our silly questions. On a busy summer weekend, we were bumped off our previous Lahemaa tour with Viator, but we happened upon the guide working for Traveller. We did not regret our decision to go to the National park. The bonus was that it was slightly cheaper than the viator tour. The food at the Park lodge was good and authentic. Very worth it (not included in tour price).

Had a fantastic time on a five-person Lahemaa day trip last week! Johanna was our guide and she was absolutely incredible. She has a lifelong connection with Lahemaa and a deep knowledge of the place. We had great group conversations and a lot of laughs, but Johanna also made sure to spend time with everyone individually. We did some great hikes through beautiful forests (including the otherworldly Viru Bog!), saw picturesque fishing villages, had free time to explore Sagadi Manor, and had a classic Estonian lunch at the very atmospheric Altja Korts. Johanna was also my guide the following day on the Tallinn to Riga tour, and that too was incredible!! Highly, highly recommend!

Had a fantastic small group trip, four of us plus Johanna, and she shared a lot of history and anecdotes about the places we visited. We stopped at Jagala water fall, both fishing villages, the national park for a hike, and the Viru bog. She knew a lot about forging as well, and we tried a couple of things on the walk. The fog was the group favorite. I think, it was just so otherworldly! I’d definitely recommend a trip with the company, and especially Johanna!

Toller Ausflug durch durch den Nationalpark, begleitet durch Erläuterung zu Natur und Menschen durch den Tourguide. Wie die angesetzte Zeit 8/9 h erahnen lässt, benötigt man doch eine gewisse Fitness und ich hab dann leider erst am nächsten Tag, als ich Krämpfe im Oberschenkel bekommen habe festgestellt, dass es für mich doch zuviel war. Auch die Information, dass der Tourguide Wasser mitnimmt, wäre vor Antritt gut gewesen, so hätte ich mich nicht selbst unnötig abgeschleppt.

"Great Tour with a Fantastic Guide"

If you want to get a feel for Estonia outside of Tallinn this is a must do tour. We had a fantastic guide (Johanna) who lives on the edge of the national park. Her knowledge of the area made it that more special. The meeting point for the tour being the Tourist Information Office made meeting up easy and staying in the old town it is a very short walk for us. There were only 4 on the tour so it was very personable. Now the tour, the scenery was great, the waterfall followed by the walk through the bog on a lovey cool but sunny day was fantastic. Whilst the walk through the bog was about 3km it was a very easy stroll along the boardwalk. The boardwalk is not suitable for those who require disability aids as it is a narrow structure. After a nice simple lunch in a local tavern it was on to a superbly renovated mansion with beautiful gardens surrounding it. Unfortunately the inside of the mansion was closed for refurbishment but that was not a disappointing. After the mansion it on to a small fishing village with a nice walk through the forest to the beach. Walking along the beach brought us back to the start. Keep you eye out for local wildlife on the route. We were presented with the sighting of a fox.

The experience with our guide, Jae, was wonderful. Having never experienced a bog before, it was an educational, informative, and eye opening tour. Well maintained infrastructure ensured that the entire visit went smoothly with plenty of photographic opportunities. The tour started punctually, and ended punctually, with interested nuggets of data about life in Estonia to keep the relatively longer journey interesting. Definitely a must visit away from the crowds of the Old Town.

What I liked the most though, was that George could tell a lot about the situation of the Estonian people, at present as well as in the past. Very interesting indeed. We visited the waterfall and had a wonderful walk along the coastline. After lunch we visited a grand house and hunting museum. Also very nice. And last but not least we had an extensive walk through some kind of moory area. We walked on a kind of jetty, for kilometers... Very impressing! And then we were tired.... Really enjoyable day trip, stopping at Jagala Waterfall, walk near Altja, visit to Sagradi manor and walk at Viru bog. Our guide George (who was actually Hungarian!) was really knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. At Altja we ate at a traditional Estonian restaurant. The food was excellent, and it was not at all expensive. A couple of things for the future which might enhance the trip. Firstly, after we visited Sagradi we also passed Palmse manor, and it would have been nice just to make a brief stop to take a photo from the outside and maybe get some information about it as we were passing it anyway. Also, when we got to Viru bog there was a useful board showing a map of the park and we could see the places we had visited. Might it be possible in future to give people a little map when they join the tour, showing where they are going and the various stops? I think that would be really helpful. But overall it was a great day and I really enjoyed it.

We went to the Lahemaa National Park in January, knowing that we would walk through a bog - what we didn't expect is that the footbridge is just two planks wide and has no hand rail. We had lots of fun walking on the icy bridge trying not to fall into the water, but it might not be the right thing for people who are easily startled, at least not in winter :) The fishing village was very picturesque, we even had a close encounter with a fox. Our guide was very passionate about nature and able to share this passion in a very convincing way.

I did the Lahemaa national park tour the day after Christmas. It was a day packed with activities - starting with the fiery red Jagala falls, then hiking through the Viru Bog, walking on the beaches of the fishing village of Kasmu and finally the old manor houses. We stopped for lunch at a traditional Estonian restaurant. Annaleena was fantastic as a guide, being a biologist she threw a lot of light on the ecology of the places in addition to the history. The group was great too and game for extending the trip with long walks. Was an absolutely great experience and would do it all over again!

This tour takes you to many beautiful natural areas that would be difficult to visit without renting a car. I liked hearing the Estonian folktales and stories about these areas, especially the bog. Sten was a great guide. Interesting and fun. It was nice to see some of the Estonian countryside. Obviously there were some limitations to the length of the tour and our ability to visit one of the museums due to winter sunlight hours and the fact that it was the day after Christmas, but it would have been good if the tour company could have provided the correct finishing time to us in advance so we could have planned our evening.

This was the most expensive tour I've ever been on, I understand that everything is expensive in Estonia but still had to mention it. The tour itself was great, our guide was very knowledgeable, kind and easy to understand. This sure is the best way to get to see multiple places in the national park if you don't drive. The undisturbed nature is truly something to behold and I got to taste wild cranberries. We also went on the traditional estonian swing, which was scary but fun.

"Trip to a city that did not exist"

We enjoyed our private tour with guide George, he tailored our day to our wishes and was knowledgeable and entertaining. Our first stop was a waterfall and a seashore. Actually, the waterfall ended in the beach, and the mix of both soothing water sounds really made my day (and I put them in a sound loop to create a sleeping sound :-) My travel compagnion best experience were the different sweet smells of the forests we have been in. We visited the Narva castle and I had never been so close to the Ru border. Then we had an excellent lunch in a university building and went for our last stop, Sillamäe. This is a small city with a crazy history. From fishermanstown, to luxury resort, to industrial oil plant, to concentrations camps, to a uranium plant to manufacture a nuclear bomb, and that gave the status of a secret and closed town, wiped off the map. And in recent history everyone can freely enjoy the promenade and seashore. So did we.

Our guide George picked up the group, and it turned out we were a great mix of nationalities and personalities and knowledges, this already was a source of fun! George knew a lot about his country and was also sensitive to everyone's needs. We visited the Jägala waterfall, the Sagadi Manor, and had a hike through the forest to the seashore, all in beautiful autumn colors. Then a nice traditional style lunch, to be prepared for the next hike; my personal highlight of the day: the Viru wetlands. Somehow pictures never do justice to the feel of being there, in beautiful nature. George encouraged us to take moments of being quiet and feel the spirit of Estonia. And we did! What a lovely day.

I truly cannot express how much I loved this tour -- it was the highlight of my entire 10-day trip to the Baltics. I loved walking within the bogs and learning about their history (there is also an opportunity to swim in one of them so be sure to bring your swimsuit and towel!). I loved the little restaurant we ate lunch in. I loved getting to see the Baltic Sea up close and learn about the glaciers leaving their boulders behind next to the shore. It was a lot of walking, but definitely doable and worth it to take your time so you don't miss anything. I truly can't recommend booking this tour enough! I, of course, cannot remember my tour guide's name (I AM SORRY) but she was so excellent and even sat with me during lunch because I was by myself and really shy. We had a lot in common, with science being something we studied, and she even went to school in the northeast US, not far from where I am from! We ended up having a pleasant conversation that I am very grateful for.

It was a nice trip to get to know a little about the nature of Estonia. The guide was loving the nature and giving this love to the people. I didn't know that there was possibility to swim so unfortunately I didn't bring my bathclothes. I was more interessted in nature, so that I would have prefered to stay longer at the seasinde and the bog i stead of visiting the manor house. The lunch was really good and fine. We had a great day in Lahemaa. There was a nice mix of nature and history and sometimes both at once. The bog walk was great and and another unexpected highlight were the gardens at the Sagadi palace. Siret was very friendly and a great guide. Nothing felt rushed and there was opportunity to explore at your own pace. The food at the lunch stop was great and we had fun learning how to use the swing!

This tour was beyond our expectations. We had a very educated tour guide, where she was able to tell us all about Estonian history, and also the ecosystem of Estonia as we went on the trail at the National Park and also at the waterfall. She brought us to a local pub as well and it was the best food we’ve had in Estonia so far - again, beyond our expectations. Overall, it was a great day that we spent, we learnt a lot about the history here (totally worth the money!) and the car ride was also very comfortable! 100% would recommend.

We were on a cruise and wanted to make the most of our time in Tallinn. We certainly made the most of it! Our guide was lovely, and showed us so much of this lovely city. I definitely want to go back. Only marking 4 stars, as the pick up was stressful. I'd specifically asked for pick up from the cruise port as my Mother-in-law has limited mobility. Half an hour after we were supposed to be picked up, and after numerous phone calls I was finally told we needed to walk outside of the cruise port to meet our guide. Better communication and instructions from the office would have been appreciated in advance (thank goodness I had a phone or we would never have made our tour). Highly recommend - just be clear on pick up location.

"An Amazing Day with an Amazing Guide"

We explored the highlights around Tallin with our expert guide, Sten. He was the best guide we have ever had. His logistics were perfect, and we were able to enjoy everything we wanted to see with plenty of time to enjoy all. Sten had encyclopedic knowledge of everything - culture, history, wildlife, geology, military history, and food. We especially liked looking for fossils at the base of the coastal cliffs. He was an excellent and safe driver. We even had time for a nice lunch at a lovely cafe that Sten recommended. Above all we want to thank Sten for going way beyond his duties because he helped us with a first aid urgency (something from the days before and not a result of anything we did on our tour). At the end of our tour, he took us to a medical clinic that he had made many calls to arrange an appointment. The doctor saw us immediately and Sten remained with us until he knew all was going to be OK. The entire day was absolutely beyond our expectations. We wish Sten continued success with his career working with the Railway Baltica extension and hope he continues to provide superb tourist guiding in his extra time.

Eight of us booked the 5 hour tour while we were visiting on a cruise. It was our best tour with the best guide. Chris picked us up and dropped us off at the cruise terminal. Chris was informative and passionate as he told us about Tallinn history while walking us through the old town and pointing out important buildings and landmarks. The town is beautiful, and the history is interesting and sad at times, but that of resilient people. We then got into the van went to Kadriorg Palace. Chris dropped us off at a great cafe and then drove up to the other end of the park and walked back. While he did that we ordered our pastries and sat down and rested for a bit. He caught up with us and we all finished up and made the walk through the park to the palace. We walked further to the presidential palace where the president actually lives. Unbelievably we were able to talk right in front of it. There were a couple of guards but there was not a sense that they need to worry. We ended with a drive to an up and coming neighborhood in Tallinn that is repurposing old buildings and making high end apartments. We were back to the ship with an hour to spare which is how we like it. The day was wonderful. Chris was amazing. As we walked by the cruise groups with 50 people, we kept saying…. This was the way to go.

Our guide had arranged a surprise for our group, a meeting the previous mayor of a town on the way to Narva. The tour included interesting sites that you would never see if only visiting Tallinn. Our guide, Sten, was extremely knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor in sharing stories about all the places we visited. It is a long trip, but totally worth it, especially our last stop at the beautiful cliff side waterfall and hike down to the beach on the Baltic sea where we looked for fossils.

Hi! Me and my wife did this forest and waterfall hiking tour on march 2024! It was EPIC ! Our guide Sten was the best guy to go for a hiking ! Very experienced really good person and for sure loves what he does! About the tour… waterfalls were amazing specially at this period we did the tour , everything frozen around them and the colors were so intense! The hiking in the forest was an unbelievable experience that you must really go there to understand! Estonian forest is so alive and breathtaking, the colors the paths and the way that everything surrounding you is really unique and feel so different than any other forest we have visit. Again our guide was excellent explaining so many things for the forest, history, myths, plant and tree species that we wanted even more time to learn more! The food stop was also a pleasant surprise! The food was not the typical tourist food that nobody likes but one of the best that we had in Estonia! , at the end of the tour you will see the sea… and an old beautiful fisherman village that closes the tour so nicely! There is also a nice museum included in the tour with many nice details of the forest and history of the place. If you are a nature lover or a photo lover this is more than highly recommended! We feel very lucky that we did it.

It was a fun sunny day with Stan as we explored the countryside . We enjoyed the beautiful coastal cliffs , amazing the Keia Joa Falls and surrounding area . We saw the Rummu quarry and heard a lot of interesting stories and its history of prison tales . We had delicious lunch at a local cafe and the Russian airplane that seems to have been part of Star Wars series. Thanks Sten for a beautiful sunny day !

We have learned a lot about Tallin with the old town tour, the area of revival where the train tracks are, the area by the port and the contrasting memorials built by the Soviets and the one built by the locals to commemorate those who were tortured and died from the atrocities and the presidential palace and the Kardiog palace that now serves as the museum. We greatly enjoyed our participation in the Lahemaa National Park tour on Saturday July 15. We were a small group of 5 people plus the guide whose name I do not remember (sorry for that!). She was very friendly and gave us a lot of information about the places and nature. She was very knowledgeable also about other issues relating to the country and it’s history and made us all feel at ease with our questions. After awesome nature strolls, the visit of Sagadi Manor took us back to the realities of the majority of rural Estonian people during centuries. Driving was not too much. We particularly liked the nice hikes in the park and at the coast side and it felt nature pure. The lunch was in a charming and apparently country typical restaurant.

Our group of 8 people just returned from our Baltic Cruise. One of the highlights of our holiday was our Best of Tallinn Tour provided by Traveller Tours. This was a walking tour of the Old Town combined with a driving tour to some areas outside of the usual crowded tourist areas. Our guide, Kert, was excellent. Being a teacher, he was able to provide a lot of historical information to our group in a a way that was both interesting and fun for everyone. Tallinn is a beautiful city that is rich in history. Therefore, a tour like this was extremely worthwhile as opposed to simply walking around without obtaining all of the information that we learned. In addition to the standard "touring," we stopped at a local restaurant for lunch. When the tour was finished, Kert gave us useful information for things to do on our own in the old town prior to returning to our ship. The booking process was seamless and the price was excellent value for the quality that we received. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tallinn and would enthusiastically use them again in the future.

We were pleased even to get a tour since we reserved sort of at the last minute. With limited time via a ferry from Helsinki, we mostly just wanted a nice overview of Old City Tallin and some perspective on life there. Our guide, Harriet, kindly met us at the ferry terminal and provided a very high quality walking tour, accommodating some moderate physical challenges on my part. We had time at the end for some exploring on our own and a great bowl of fish soup at a restaurant she recommended. Terrific. Highly recommend.

My two sisters and I took a tour with Katrin to Lahemaa national park and we had a great time. Katrin is knowledgeable, sweet and funny. We were 7 people so it was a great size for a tour, we could easily ask questions and do a lot of different things. The park was beautiful and the scenery is amazing. We were really happy we got a spot on the tour as it was a bit of a last minute decision and we really enjoyed it. Totally worth it and I already recommended it to some friends!

Was absolutely worth the money, you spend a whole day traveling around the national park. We walked through a moor, went to the coast, to a waterfall etc. Our tour guide explained everything very well and could answer any questions you have. The bog and the beach landscape was like something I have never seen before, and it was fascinating to learn about this very unique eco-system. The tour very quickly felt like a relaxed trip with friends rather than strangers forced together because of a common interest. I've been on a few of these kinds of guided tours before, and this has easily been one of the best because of our guide, Karl (I chose him on the list as Karl-Johan, I hope this is the right person). Unfortunately, with little vacation time to visit Estonia, this tour was a good opportunity to visit a little bit of Estonia. Lahemaa National Park is very beautiful and with a small group you can better appreciate it. The Viru marsh is unique, the Jagala waterfall is very beautiful (even if with a small jump and in August with not much water) and the fishing village of Altja and the view of the Baltic Sea. The villa of Sagadi is interesting. Our guide / driver Andres, very knowledgeable and helpful. A tour that has satisfied me and I can recommend.

We booked the costal cliffs tour. I booked this as a private tour because my family is tall and the website states that a private van is the means of transport. We were disappointed to pay extra to have to ride in our drivers personal vehicle a small hatchback. It seemed unfair to charge us the premium for this. When I raised the issue I basically was told no vans were available and they were sorry. This should have been communicated up front especially because I booked the tour well in advance. Our guide however was wonderful. He was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. We really enjoyed our day with him we just felt a little taken advantage of by the company.

Lahemaa National Park Day Tour is a worthwhile day trip and chance to see several key landmarks Estonia has to offer. You will see beautiful trails in the forests, boulders, waterfall, the coast, bogs, a manor, and a lunch stop at a charming tavern which had excellent food. Over a 6-7 hour period we walked about 6 miles through the various stops. We rode in a 8 passenger van and it was fun getting to know other travelers on the tour. There are a ton of trails and parks to visit in Estonia but I think this tour captures a little of everything in the best areas. I highly recommend this tour and avoid wasting your time trying to plan your own excursion. Plus you get great stories and facts about Estonia and park from the tour guide.

We also visited the Kolga manor, which is falling apart, although some repairs have been done, and shows the opulence of the Baltic Germans in the 19th century. In the forest before the bog, and part of the bog, and along the coast we did walk through a cloud of mosquitos, so bring stron mosquito repellent.

Super day trip from Tallinn to the delightful Lahemaa National Park - there is a lot packed into the day but the trip never felt rushed. I think winter is a great time to visit this place, I strongly recommend it. We also had the chance to see a medieval castle and Sten told us a lot about Estonia history. Our Guide Kurt (History Teacher) met us at the head of the pier. We drove in to town, where we walked through the upper part of town to see all of the look out points. All the while, he gave us some history of the area and anecdotal stories of the significance of each spot. We then made our way into the lower town and got a good insight in to how Tallinn evolved throughout the last 500 or so years. Then we drove to the Presidential Palace. As we walked through the grounds and the gardens around them. Kurt gave us a lot of good insight in to how Tallinn evolved through the different eras of rulers and occupations over the years. We went to the outdoor Amphitheater where they hold concerts and community singing events. Since he is a local he had some great stories about events he had attended. Afterward, we went to the WWII memorial. As a history teacher he was well versed in the historical significance of Tallinn, and how so many countries moved in and used Tallinn as a strategic location. I highly recommend this tour, if you are in Tallinn, or Estonia in general. Kurt, specifically was a wealth of information, and was a great tour guide.

We had a great trip to Lehemaa with guide Chris. We saw some mansions; drove and walked by the seaside; had lunch in a traditional pub with good food; and really enjoyed the naturewalk through the bogs. So, if you have some extra time in Tallinn I really recommend this tour!

The tour was overall nice. I really enjoyed the Viru bog and the village walk. Just a few comments: - the tours advertise "Entry to Sagadi Manor Complex" but the manor was being restore and not possible to visit and the guide wasn't even aware of it so this is poor preparation - the tour also advertised "Bottled still water", however at no point during the tour were we offered water. Fortunately I had a small bottle with me, but it wasn't enough. If I had known I would have taken some more water so as not to get dehydrated at the end of the day. - overall, even if the guide was knowledgeable, it seems he didn't prepare his tour. Having worked as a guide myself, I find that disappointing and lacking professionalism.

Our 9-hour small-group tour took us first to Estonia‘s highest waterfall where we learned a lot about Estonian geography and geology, then to a Swedish manor where we got an intensive course in Estonian history, after which we went for an easy one-mile hike on a boardwalk through a peat bog and learned a lot about flora and fauna. One member of our group even went for a swim in the bog, he found the experience incredible. After a simple but tasty lunch in a rustic inn, we made short walking tours in two historic seaside villages. It sounds intense but it was chill and lots of fun. Our guide Andres did a great job of sharing his wealth of knowledge about Estonia with us. Wear walking shoes.

Really enjoyed this off-the-beaten-track tour of eastern Estonia. You really get to see a very different side of the country - a lot of which looks and feels like it is still in the Soviet times. Narva was particularly interesting being so close to Russia, but there are many things to see and we highly appreciate that we were able to tailor our tour as desired. Would highly recommend to others that like a more quirky and unusual experience. Our guide Sten was very good - you could ask him anything and he would know the answer!

"A wonderful Estonian (read: rainy and Nordic) day "

We were welcomed by our great tour guide, Sten, a bit before 10am. We were two to do the tour that day (me and my girlfriend) so that was great as we could really talk with Sten and take our time to discover each place. We started with the mighty ( :) ) Jägala Fall and then visited the Viru bog. There was a bit of rain but it added to the bog experience (even hesitated to jump in one of the lakes from the small platform). The nature there is magnificent ! Sten's explanations about both the waterfall and the bog (formation, role in Estonian culture before and today) were very interesting. Unfortunately, we did not spot any bog monsters that day, but it's probably because it had eaten the previous tourists passing by... We then went to Viitna Kõrts, a nice auberge on the road between Tallinn and Narva where we ate good and hearty Estonian dishes (perfect for the day) and enjoyed glasses of kamajook and kali. The rest of the afternoon was great, finishing with the small and charming fishing village of Altja. We then went back to Tallinn. Sten offered to put some Estonian modern music (pop, folk, etc.) to get to know the art-scene. We took note of some nice songs :) Sten dropped us off before our hotel, which was very nice, and gave us some great places to have dinner or have a drink. We had the time to try some and really enjoyed them !

The landscape is really typical (and in some places: truly stunning), and the walk (about 3.5 km) is ideal in length. Maybe especially for a Swede, with all the common history, this is a very interesting and nice tour to take - to visit Narva and see some of the historical sites that is so deeply seated in our history. But the tour is also of great interest for all people who are interested in getting a glimpse of what life was like in the U.S.S.R. You will even be able to visit a formerly "secret city" that was not marked on the map!

This day trip deserves more attention! We had an amazing time. Our tour guide, Andres, has a wealth of knowledge on all things Estonia (and Lahemaa, of course), and he shared that knowledge in a way that was light, funny and engaging. We loved the bog — during a cold, rainy day, it had an added mystical feel — and thought the hikes through Estonia's famed forests were lovely. Each hour is different, and you cover a lot of ground (including about six or seven miles by foot) throughout. If you're visiting Tallinn, I would highly recommend making time for this.

We didn't know much about Estonia, being Americans and such. To us, it was simply a former Soviet republic that found independence dumped on its lap when the Wall fell. This trip is really worth doing. The Jägala waterfall and the Lahemaa national park are both a beauty for the eyes. We had the chance to have a perfect weather : it snowed a bit the morning, when we were on the road, which permitted to enjoy very delightful landscapes covered with snow. When my group reached a little tower inside the national park, it was just the time of sunset, which we could enjoy watching from the top of the tower. The lunch was also great, permitting to discover local food. Great guide from whom we learnt a lot about Estonian culture, and great co-travelers! A very enjoyable day!

Me and my two friends enjoyed The ghosts and legends of Tallin tour very much. It was a fun introduction to Tallin's peculiar history and strange stories. Our guide Mirjam was excellent and she spoke clear English, she is a great storyteller. Personally I would have liked to hear a few more spooky ghost stories - like actual sightings, haunted houses etc. But this was entertaining combo as well. Would definitely recommend this tour for other travellers!

Easy walk in the national park including the bogs because the land is so flat. Anyone can do it so dont hesitate to take this opportunity to get out of the city. The sights are pretty in their own rights but dont expect it to be comparable to places like Austria, Scotland, etc. The guide is very quiet but so am I so I was completely fine with it. But some may not be. Some advice for the guides would be perhaps you can share some of your insights on your country's culture and history throughout that long drive.

"See The Unique Nature Of Estonia"

Jevgeni picked us up right on time, and despite an ominous weather forecast and rainy morning, he was, as he put it "ready to be optimistic" about our day. Since we'd only landed the night before, and we're quite jetlagged, it was great timing for this kind of tour since talking to someone always makes a trip more fun and keeps you from having that slightly lost and confused feeling that sometimes comes with new places. My husband and I chose a private tour since we only had a week and wanted to maximize our experience. The rain miraculously stopped shortly after seeing Estonia's biggest waterfall, and we arrived at the Viru Bog. The fall is turning the moss various shades of red and orange, and combined with the totally unexpected blue sky it was absolutely beautiful. Jevgeni was incredibly knowledgeable about the biology of the peat bog and got hands on by showing us how peat functions and how it is such a unique formation in the places that it exists on Earth. After that we stopped for a delicious lunch, and headed to more forest where he regaled us with a hilarious rendition of Estonia's "Epic" legend that was written in haste. We learned why hedgehogs are considered bearers of wisdom, and we even got plenty of history lessons along the way. Coming out from the forests to the edge of the Baltic Sea was stunning. It was so peaceful and serene. Pat and I both ended the day feeling like we'd seen things we wouldn't have found on our own. We'll absolutely be recommending this tour to anyone else who wants to visit Estonia!!

"See sides of Estonia you won't find on your own! "

My husband Pat and I opted for the private tour option since we only had a week in Tallinn, and without a rental car, we wanted to make the most of the trip by getting outside the capital for a bit. We took two private tours with Traveller, and neither one disappointed. On this tour, Sten picked us up promptly outside our AirBnB and gave us plenty of options of what we could go and see. Our response was "all of it." For the entire day (we left at 9am and got back around 5:30), we kept seeing one thing of beauty after another. Sten was so so knowledgeable about the history of Estonia, it's Occupation, it's subsequent Independence, what life is like now, and so much more. The highlight for me was climbing around the former limestone quarries and the flooded prison. If you're not afraid of heights, or, as he put it "to go mountain climbing in the country with no mountains", this is a real treat. Also the Soviet plane, now the home to a model airplane club, is surreal as you sit in pilot and Gunner seats and get transported back in time. We didn't only talk about the past, though. We talked hobbies, politics, culture, movies, etc. It really left us feeling like we'd made a friend in Estonia. I will absolutely recommend this company to anyone visiting the country.

The tour was awesome!! We came across numerous buildings and statues, and each of them had a different (sometimes cruel) story to tell. Igor brings these legends with enthousiasm, passion and even a sinister sense of humor. :) You'll be sucked into the stories as if you are living them. Keep up the good work! When attending this tour after sunset and in cold temperatures, the cruel medieval stories really come to its best! Afterwards we ate in a medieval themed restaurant (peppersack) to make the experience complete. What a night! When having a few spare hours in Tallinn, don't hesitate and book this tour. Relaly. You won't regret.

Miriam was a native Estonian with extremely good language skills - she kept up a great commentary throughout the morning tour. We saw the major sights and did a fair amount of walking but she tuned it to our place and interests. If you were considering the package day tour from Helsinki, I'd strongly suggest this and booking your own ferry connections online - it was easy, cheaper and had better options like "comfort class" for the ferry.

Great tour for those who want to venture out and see more of the areas outside Tallin centre. Was not disappointed. Particular highlights were the visit to the Prison Quarry, the waterfall and surprisingly for me, the Russian cargo plane. During this tour you have the chance to visit Jagala waterfalls, to walk into the forest, to visit a manor and to walk through dark small lakes hiding swamps. It's been a very interesting trip, the part I preferred the most was the path among the lakes, I found it very naturalistically suggestive. There are also some legends related to these places coming from ancient estonian people that concurs in creating a particular atmosphere. Our guide, Jevgeni, was highly qualified, super friendly and very kind with all of us. The fact that this tour is organized with a small number of people it allows to create a confident and cozy atmosphere in the group. You also have the chance to eat some delicious traditional food in a folkloristic tavern. Don't miss this opportunity!

The guide was excellent and the sights most interesting. It could be improved with headsets and the guide giving more of the history and politics of Estonia, especially during the quiet time between stops, we are generally ignorant of Estonia and would appreciate more information.

The guide was lovely and gave excellent explanations about the things we saw. Would have liked to be able to go into some of the abandoned apartments to see what Life was like in Soviet times. It was also a big coincidence that I met my high school principal on the same tour on the same day! I graduated from high school in Toronto in 1981 and the former principal is now 85 years old!

Our guide's dry humour was perfect and we both thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Particularly liked the bog walk and local food (he had eaten his potato porridge with egg and bacon topping before my food had arrived). Lots of history and local knowledge too.

This was a highlight on our trip to Estonia, down to our excellent guide Oliver, who also goes by 'Ollie' or 'Hey!' The bear impression was spectacular, and his knowledge of the wildlife made for an interesting listen. Oliver was extremely approachable and provided an easy-going environment for the 8 of us on the trip. Very easy to reach the meeting point at Tallinn, for a prompt departure, where we were driven by car see Jägala Waterfall, Viru bog and the coast, while stopping at an excellent restaurant (and reasonable) for lunch, with traditional Estonian dishes and drinks. I would thoroughly recommend the day trip - reasonable and enjoyable.

The two of us had a walking tour of old Tallinn with Julia. She has great knowledge of the area and the buildings. As well she was very personable and we enjoyed our time with her. This is a great tour, Andres our tour guide was personable, had these wonderful tidbits about nature, history etc. I also 7 other wonderful people on the tour from various countries. Walking in the bog, snacking on wild blueberries, cranberries! It was good communing with nature, this was followed by a hike in the pine forest, which opened onto a beach , walk along the beach to a fishing village and finally on an Estonian village swing. All and all a wonderful tour. Highly recommend it.

A really great day trip from Tallinn. A must see for anybody in Estonia for a few days. The Viru bog is beautiful, make sure to bring swimming attire for the chance to swim in a bog pond, truly memorable. You really have to go to Lahemma. Theres really only one thing to do here, and that thing is a must see; theres an hour walk on a boardwalk through the heart of the bog, and its great, since a bog is such a weird environment. It feels bad to drive an hour, do an hour of an activity, and drive back, and they don't; they really do a good job of making it into a real days worth of activity.

Lahemaa is definitely an interesting option if you're looking to do a day trip out of Tallinn. The trip was a nice overview of the Estonian countryside and geography outside of the capital. The bogs and beaches were the most interesting parts of the tour, and I wish we could have seen more of the park's natural features. The greatest value I took from the trip was Uku's commentary. He provided some fantastic insights on Estonian history and culture, and it was fascinating to hear some of his family's experience during and after the Soviet era.

First of all, the bog in the lahemaa park is a must-see for every tourist in Tallin or Estonia in general. The bog is very unique and the trail is beautiful. We also thought the other stops were a nice addition! The beach was actualy really nice and calming and I wished I could've sit there for like 30 minutes just watching the shore. Though the trip on it's own was great, our guide was maybe even greater! Ollie (Oliver) was very enthousiastic and told us many things about the nature we didn't know. He let us try edible berries and answered all our questions about Estonia in general. He is an amazing guide! Would definitely recommend this trip!

"There's more to Tallinn than the Old Town!"

We were in Tallinn for one day on a cruise stop and wanted to see more than just the Old Town, and this tour was perfect for that. We met our guide at the cruise port and started with a guided walking tour of the Old Town early in the morning when it was quiet and then picked up the bikes and went for a ride around modern Tallinn, which was just as interesting. Our guide was personable and informative (with excellent English), and we all had a great time! Highly recommended.

The tour was up to only 8 people so, even though we just met, the atmosphere was close and very comfortable. Our guide was kind and funny that I enjoyed listening to him a lot. He told us about the history of Estonia and the relationship they had with the soviet. Not only did I enjoy the sightseeing but also the conversation with the local guide and it definitely is an unforgettable memory for me!

We booked a privat tour, so our guide picked us up right at the port and took us for the walking tour through the old town. She showed us around, explained the history to us and answerd all our questions, so that we got a glimps of Estonian life and culture. We chose to do the biking tour through the old industrial and Kalamaja district which turned our to be really beautiful. The only negativ point was that we originally wanted a German tour but due to a staff problem they couldn't offer that to us. In the end that was alright and our english tour was amazing.

"Interesting sites, too much driving time"

The sites we went to were interesting and unexpected. It was nice to get outside and out of the city. It was a bit too much time squished into a minivan between the sites. Our group was very quiet and not chatty, so maybe if there had been more guided conversation while driving it would have felt less awkward/boring.

I really enjoyed this day trip to the National Park. The driver/guide drove very well (I'm often carsick so it is important). Then, the trip was well constructed the longest time in the morning so we can sleep and then we walked on the park. The bog is so beautiful and the view from the tower so stunning :) we also had the chance to taste traditional Estonian food : potato mash with bacon. I really recommend this trip !

We were a party of 6 and had a private walking tour with Helen, 26, a native of Tallinn. Helen was very articulate and fun and she knew a lot about Estonian history. We visited many countries on our trip and I think Estonia was one of my favorites because of the walking tour! We went to many landmarks, we walked to two overlooks, we went to the upper city and the lower city, and we stopped here and there to listen the history and stories. We wanted to spend a day at Lahemaa but didnt know we would need an international drivers license to rent a car. Traveller's tour to the rescue! We booked this tour hoping it would give us a full day in nature, hiking, seeing the water and breathing in the fresh air and it did. Our guide Hannes obviously cared about history and we were glad to learn from him. Lots of walking on this one but easy flat and beach walking.

This was a really excellent and informative tour. It was a beautiful day and the scenery was equally amazing. From the 19th Century Bunker to the beach at Paldiski and the grounds at Padise Monastery, our guide Marju was full of energy and very knowledgeable about everything. She brought the past to life and together with Oliver, they were very friendly and contributed towards a very enjoyable day. The stop at the roadside cafe was good fun, allowing us all to get to know each other a bit more. The meatloaf was very tasty too! We took a walk at a park where the grounds were very impressive and filled with greenery. Our trip to the Rummu Quarry was a highlight with stunning views of a unique area. The chance to sit in a Soviet Cargo Plane was something I will never forget. Thank you Marju, Oliver and Traveller Tours for an unforgettable experience.

"Curious about Soviet era? This is the tour for you"

The highlights were two Soviet-related stops on the tour. First was an abandoned military bunker near the coast. We saw the bunker and then headed inside. It was much larger/longer than expected and we saw where the missile launchers had been. Another stop was an abandoned limestone quarry. After it was mined, there was no need to continue to pump out water, and so it naturally filled up-flooding low-lying buildings. Now that area is used as a local swimming quarry--swimming and snorkeling in clear water around the buildings that had been flooded. Quite unusual. Of course the views along the coastal cliffs were also lovely to see.

Lovely to venture beyond Tallinn to see a little of the Estonian Countryside and the west coast. We stopped at Nova Beach and Spitham Point - very pleasant. Saw Haspsalu castle and the railway station, but was disappointed we had no free time for a wander around Haapsalu on our own - especially as weather was beautiful.

I booked this tour after doing the Riga to Tallinn Tour with TravellerTours. Both were fantastic, this one was nice because you spent more time at the sights than in the van, due to the cliffs being so close to Tallinn. I'm terrible with names, so I forget our guide's name, but he was friendly and knowledgeable and made for a good trip. The lunch in Paldiski was also quite good, get the meat dumplings.

We spent a beautiful day in Laheema Park. Our guide was always smiling, kind and ready to give us many explications. The path in the park was lovely ! We ate in a very good typical tavern ( the salmon was delicious !). We highly recommend this tour !

"Unspoilt wilderness "

This was a wonderful and varied day. We walked through the bog (on the boardwalk), visited Estonia’s largest waterfall, ate lunch in a trad pub, walked round a Manor House, (outside only) and went to the beach. The bog was truly spectacular great bird life and scenery, the significance of this unique environment was starkly shown by walking a little way to see an area which was exploited for its peat. We splashed out on a private tour which was well worth it as we took it all at our own pace. I am so sorry I can’t recall our guide’s name but she is very good and informative.

"Charming knowledgeable guide "

My husband and I scheduled a walking tour for just the 2 of us. The price was reasonable, so we were not sure what kind of experience we would have - turned out to be a good one! Our guide was young, cute and very knowledgeable. It was so nice to be able to have conversations with someone who lived there. She was upbeat and charming - much more enjoyable than a group walking tour where the guide is trying to be funny all the time
